Hemmon House
Rising 41 storeys from a 863m2 micro site, Hemmon House boast one of the highest slenderness ratios in Kuala Lumpur. Four apartments are achieved on each floor, ninety in total across 22 apartment levels, belying its small footprint.
Unlocking a Micro Site
The constraints of the small site necessitated a structure-led design solution. In the end, a simple table structure harnessing the 2 car lifts , passenger lift core and a supercolumn in the four corners allowed for column-free span – opening up the plan for a workable carpark layout to be achieved.
Bringing the City In
The structural configuration also allowed for 3 urban-scale ‘supercuts’ to be introduced, connecting the inner workings of the building with the broader city. The building touches the ground lightly, lifted / cut at the corner to invite the public realm and raintree lined street scape in. A mid level cut reveals communal spaces and introduces a communal garden. At the roof, a final cut carves out additional amenities for residents with unparalleled views of TRX and the Royal Selangor Golf Course.
