Odeon Square
Odeon Square is urban regeneration project involving the redevelopment of the existing Odeon complex in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. A key part of the redevelopment involves retaining and restoring the 83 year old, A.O. Coltman designed Odeon Cinema, and adaptively reusing the space as a black box for arts & culture.
Creating a Cultural Bookend
The scheme draws from the rich moving picture heritage of Malaysia and the significance of Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman which leads south to Dataran Merdeka. It will form an urban landmark serving as cultural bookend to this historical boulevard.
A Cultural Destination
Pavilions housing restaurants & cafes, galleries and other cultural offerings line the street front, creating a cultural destination that is connected with the city and hustle & bustle of old KL.
Stacked Villages
Two towers rise above the cultural realm, housing co-living spaces, offices and serviced apartments. Density is broken down into smaller villages, articulated as a series of stacked boxes, creating outdoor terraces and communal gardens throughout the buildings.
