Sutera Bay
Overlooking a tidal canal, Sutera Bay comprises of three interconnected blocks linked by walkways and garden decks. Conceived from the ground up as a Co-Living offering, the building houses 283 compact living suites along side a generous compliment of both indoor and outdoor communal and commercial spaces.
A Nod to a Seafaring Past
The West facade is treated with a lattice of horizontal and vertical concrete fins which provide passive shading from the hot afternoon sun. Taking the form of sails, they pay homage to the seafaring history of Kota Kinabalu.
An Activated Ground Plane
The groundplane has been conceived as an extension of the canal boardwalk, connecting the building with the broader network of waterfront walkways and public spaces. Restaurant and cafes on the ground and mezzanine are front onto landscaped alfresco terraces, extending beyond the lattice ‘sails’, bringing the activities within the building onto the street.
